Heart Valve Procedures

The Most Comprehensive Heart Valve Team in Kings and Tulare County

Sequoia Cardiovascular Associates (SCA) offers comprehensive heart valve care in Kings and Tulare County. We provide diagnosis and treatment for heart valve disease. The two main types, stenosis and insufficiency, prevent the heart from pumping blood through the body properly. Our Heart Valve Team uses a multidisciplinary approach to develop a personalized plan for your treatment. We are experts at Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER) of the Mitral Valve, and other minimally invasive heart valve procedures.

Heart Valve Testing and Evaluations

We conduct the following state-of-the-art heart valve testing:

  • Echocardiogram: Ultrasound waves to create images of the heart, assessing its structure, function, and blood flow to detect heart and valve conditions.
  • Transesophageal Echocardiogram: Ultrasound technology to create pictures of your heart from inside the body. It provides a detailed, close-up view of your heart valves.
  • Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT) Scan: Imaging technique that uses X-ray from multiple angles to create a high resolution picture of the heart. It can be used to examine heart valves and structure in more detail.

Minimally Invasive Heart Valve Treatments

We can provide the following minimally invasive treatments depending on your condition’s complexity:

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)

A cardiologist or cardiac surgeon places a new valve into the heart through a catheter inserted through a small incision, usually in the femoral artery..

Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER)

The MitraClip or PASCAL device is inserted via a catheter and latched to the mitral valve. It reduces or stops leakage and enables blood to flow more effectively and correctly through the valve.
